Looks like my streak has come to an end. It has been 15 years since I've had any kind of traffic accident and today, on Christmas Eve, my streak came crashing to an end in the CVS parking lot. A little old lady driving way too much car hit my van trying to maneuver into a parking spot today. I was in the store shopping when it happened, thank goodness. The store was all abuzz about the blue Chrysler that had just gotten hit and I didn't really get it right away because I was reading cards. The lady looked horrified when I started walking towards the front of the store. She shakily asked "is that your blue van that I just hit?" I asked her to point to the van she hit and, of course, it was mine. I think that every episode of COPS that she'd ever seen came flooding back to her because she truly looked afraid of me. Granted, I can be an imposing, maybe even intimidating, figure to someone who doesn't know me.

I did my best to not show my angry face and scare the poor woman. I ended up reassuring her that it was alright and not to worry about it. She couldn't stop apologizing and looked as if she would cry. She kept saying it was such a silly thing to do on Christmas Eve. The damage to her giant Lincoln Town Car is far worse than the damage to my van. There is a dent and paint is jacked up, but it shouldn't be that hard to fix.

Now, I have to go about getting estimates and I have no idea where to even begin on that one. I don't really know anyone around here that does it. I do, however, have several customers from work that are in the auto body business, maybe I'll call one of them and see if I can get a deal.

Anyhoo...my Christmas shopping is done. I have 3 presents left to wrap and then I can relax and enjoy the smiles on the kids faces when they open the goodies. Now, I'm off to make some sugar cookies and snickerdoodles.
